9.1 Accurate Reality Appraisal
9.1 Accurate Reality Appraisal is the Reality Capacity competency that helps you see situations as they are — not worse than they are, and not better than they are. When underdeveloped, people slide into minimising, denial, or catastrophic exaggeration. When cultivated, they can check facts, weigh evidence, consider different perspectives, and ground decisions in what is verifiable. The Reality Check Cycle — “See → Separate → Test → Reframe → Act” — guides you to distinguish facts from interpretations, test your view with evidence and neutral perspective, reframe toward balanced accuracy, and then act based on reality rather than fear or wishful thinking.
